Rating: - God's gift to Mothers
I was a new rookie mother and had read all the books and was totally against and tv watching until my son was older. My son Ben was given Baby Mozart for Christmas and though I was hesitant at first and took the gift politely, I put it into the DVD player so I could see what it was like while my baby was sitting and playing with toys in his swing. The minute the music began playing and the bright colors came across the screen, he dropped what he was doing, stopped making any noise and was completely entranced. He began kicking and laughing with delight. Since then my husband and I live by baby Einstein even if only to give us a minute or two to throw in a load of laundry or pick up a little. It is great!
Rating: - It really grabs my baby's attention!
I bought this DVD because I had heard many good things about it. I'm glad I did! My daughter starting watching it at 3 1/2 months. Now she is 5 months and still watches it everyday. It is part of our morning routine. She watches it right after bathtime and her morning bottle (so Mommy can eat a quick breakfast). She squeals with delight everytime. The music is great! It has a combination of things to look at. Each segment lasts about 45 seconds. There are toys in motion, puppets, fiber optic lamps with changing colors, still pictures of fruits and animals, colored water toys, etc... My daughter gets bored with a few of the segments (still pictures of fruits and animals), but that is OK because another segment is going to start in just a few seconds. She loves the puppets and brightly colored water toys. I really like it because humans are not in the video (only hands that are playing with the toys). I am not a fan of putting children in front of the TV, but I don't mind this one. It is educational for a baby with the interesting things to look at and the wonderful music to dance to. Mommy also gets to eat her breakfast!
Rating: - Gladly recommended with only one caution "just in case."
My grandson was 6 months old when started watching Baby Mozart. He was fascinated from the start. I was glad I held him in my arms to move to the music and share the video with him, though, because the lizard hand-puppet that appears at one point and sticks his red tongue out in fun, and the barking dog puppet scared him. They startled him and he cried every time they appeared and made their abrupt gesture and/or noise, but, because I was holding him, he was quickly soothed. Subsequently, when I knew they were coming, I made a point of saying hi! and waving hi! to them and petting them after they made their sounds and we could get closer to the screen, so he got over that just fine. He is totally absorbed by the video, and the one time he watched it from his play seat rather than my arms, I found him craning his neck and leaning way over completely drawn in. I can't help but wonder a bit, however, why this couldn't have been done with the original musical instruments as opposed to the "baby-friendly" instruments employed here.
