Average Rating: Rating: - The Dance is a monster homerun in the music industry. As a quasi-fan of Fleetwood Mac, I happened to catch the end of The Dance on public television a couple of months ago. I was fascinated not so much by the sound (I was only hearing it in stereo), but by the fun Mick Fleetwood was having on the drums. He was absolutely fantastic. The others former members of the band, Stevie Nicks, Christie McVie, John McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham were absolutely enjoying their reunion of sorts. It really showed. Well, that short clip made me go out and buy the DVD. When I watched the concert in its entirety, I was in awe. The 5.1 soundtrack is awesome, Mick's drum playing is one of the best performances I've heard, and Lindsey's guitar playing is, well, a work of art. The vocals of Stevie and Christie are timeless. If you haven't seen or heard this concert, do yourself a favor and buy the DVD version. You won't be disappointed. Rating: - Dancing again The Mac is back and better than ever!! The intro of their motto song "The Chain" ties up the loose ends. And with powerful performances of Rhiannon and a 5-6 minute guitar solo in I'm so Afraid. Stevie Nicks dresses for the part in Gold Dust Woman. Christine McVie gets out from behind her keyboard in Everywhere and in the new version of Say You Love Me. THe highlight of the performance is Nicks's poignant performance of Silver Springs, the song that was supposed to be on Rumours. There are 4 new songs and they are really good! They are : Sweet Girl --Stevie Nicks, Temporary One --Christine McVie, My Little Demon and Bleed To Love Her --Lindsey Buckingham. And this reunion performance is topped off with Christine McVie's peaceful trademark tune "Songbird". The USC marching band plays a few tunes with the mac. Any fleetwood mac fan MUST have this. Rating: - Still making great music! Whenever I see this type of reunion concert, I tend to expect the worst... a bunch of burnouts in a pathetic attempt to rekindle any type of flame. Fleetwod Mac, however, can still hang with anyone in contemporary music. Lindsey Buckingham's guitar rocks throughout. His range- from the sensitive to the harsh- this boy can rock with anyone. His performance on go insane, big love, etc... is just incredible. Also, the banjo on Say you love me is fantastic. The vocals from Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks are at least as good as they were 20 years ago. I saw them live in about 1979, and they were great then, and amazingly perhaps better now. Mic is playing great and the drums rock and roll throughout as well. I was surprised to find that there are several excellent new songs.. bleed to love her and temporary one.. for example. This is a great concert DVD you'll play over and over. Everyone seems to want to compare it to the Eagles dvd, which I don't understand.. After all, can't they both be outstanding?? The sound quality and clarity is excellent here, but it's not DTS. Silver springs and Go your own way are my favorites. Lindsey's guitar dominates this concert.
